Tips for families
Children under 15 ride free
On Prague's trams, metro, buses and the Petřín funicular, children under 15 travel free, foreign visitors too. Under 6 they must be with someone older than 10; from 6 they should carry proof of age (a passport or ID). One adult travelling with a child under 3 also rides free, with the child's ID or passport. Strollers with a baby ride free.
Family tickets and free ages
Most big sights sell a family ticket for 2 adults and up to 4 children. Free ages differ: under 3 at the zoo, 5 and under at the Petřín Tower and Mirror Maze, under 6 at the Technical Museum, under 15 (with an adult) at the National Museum.
Go early on Petřín
The Petřín Tower and the Mirror Maze give 50% off in the first hour after opening. Ride the funicular up from Újezd and walk down through the gardens, where there are several playgrounds.
Winter hours from 1 November
Many sights switch to shorter hours on 1 November: the zoo closes at 16:00, the Petřín Tower and Mirror Maze open at 10:00. Check before you go.
Watch the crowds
Keep small children close on Charles Bridge, the Old Town Square and tram 22: they are crowded and known for pickpockets.
