Park & Ride: park at the metro, CZK 50 a day

P+R means Park and Ride: a car park on the edge of the city, next to a metro, tram or bus stop. You leave the car there and ride into the centre.

Street parking

Street parking in Prague is divided into zones. Purple (mixed) and orange (visitor) zones are for anyone: park for the time limit on the sign and pay at the meter (coins in CZK or EUR, Visa or Mastercard) or online. Blue zones are for residents; visitors may stay only a short time (at most three hours, less in the centre) and pay online only, as there are no meters. Visitors pay at most CZK 80 an hour (cheaper sectors CZK 60 or CZK 40). The hours are on the signs; outside them parking is free, and where no hours are shown the zone is paid around the clock. Pay through the online parking machine (platba.parkujvpraze.cz), the PID Lítačka app or EasyPark, SEJF, ParkSimply or citymove (these may add a fee). Motorbikes park free in the zones.

Tips

Park & Ride is the cheap way in

The city's P+R list has 24 lots: eight are free, thirteen charge CZK 50 for the first 24 hours and three charge CZK 100 (Holešovice, Skalka 1, Ládví), against up to CZK 80 an hour on the street in the centre. Take the parking slip when you drive in, pay at the machine before you leave and drive out within 15 minutes. Spaces cannot be booked.

Buy the e-vignette for the motorways

Cars up to 3.5 t need an electronic vignette on Czech motorways (map of toll roads on edalnice.gov.cz). Prices from 1 Jan 2026: 1 day CZK 230, 10 days CZK 300, 30 days CZK 480, a year CZK 2,570; electric cars CZK 0, but foreign-registered ones must apply for the exemption. Cameras read number plates; driving without one risks a fine of up to CZK 20,000. Buy only on edalnice.gov.cz.

Read the zone sign before you pay

Blue lines mean a residents' zone: as a visitor you may stay only briefly and must pay online. Purple and orange zones have meters. The sign shows the paid hours and the time limit, and the online parking machine works out the price for your street.

Going to the zoo by car

Prague Zoo points visitors to the Blanka-Troja car park in Povltavská street (weekends March–October, daily in the summer holidays). The P+R Troja lot is also in Povltavská street: in 2026 it is free for up to 12 hours on weekdays until 1 November and every day from 2 November to 31 December. At weekends until 1 November, and from 29 June to 31 August, ZOO Prague sets the price.
